Saying 'So Long' to Suhailley

Suhailley Pourier will be leaving TCB to return to school in the Netherlands. During her tenure at TCB she wore many hats. Among them was the production of the Entre Nous, Coordinating Regatta, working with the statistics, overseeing the web site content, the E & D project, etc. Most of all, she was always willing to pitch in on any task and worked to see many reach completion.

At a recent farewell luncheon at Captain Wook's, she presented each of her co workers with a memento to mark her leaving Bonaire for the greener, if not colder, pastures in Holland! Suhailley will be missed but long remembered for her contributions to the Tourism sector of Bonaire.

Library Gets New English Books

Recently, the Bonaire Library received a collection of English Language books from long time visitors, Tom and Becky Starkweather. "We have been visiting Bonaire for about 10 years and each time we come, it makes it feel more and more like home" said Becky. "We just want to give something back to our many friends," said Tom.

TCB would like to thank the Starkweathers for their gift and hopes to see them next year when they will qualify for the bronze level of our Bonaire Ambassadors Program.

Masha Danki, Becky and Tom.

Discover Bonaire - July 12th
We are very proud of the results obtained in our IV edition of Bonaire's official seminars with an attendance of 149 travel agents invited by TCB and their 16 allied tour operators that have already promoted Bonaire in their Caribbean programs.

This event has an outstanding reputation where travel agents after registering, receive a Bonaire brochure's bag (sponsored by BHG group) and enjoy a coffee break before breaking in to groups to attend seminars in a workshop setting.

The seminars are two hours and familiarize travel agents with Bonaire, their properties, the air operation of Dutch Caribbean and other services in the island as well as giving them skills in order to feel confident in the promotion and sale of the destination. At the end of this event, the participants received a diploma that certifies them as Bonaire sales agents.

I would like to thank all the sponsors for making this event successful and contributing to the tourism industry by informing their travel agents.

TCB- EUROPEAN Report

Press coverage reaches an all timehigh
The PR-efforts of TCB Europe caused enormous interest in our island. We had placement in Avenue, Elegance and Beau Monde last spring, which was followed
by National Geographic and Tips & Travel. Combined with newspapers ads and
Telegraaf plus the dive-magazines, the press-coverage 2002 reached an all
time high in Europe. A great challenge will to do even better next year! TCB
Europe thanks all the members of the private sector as well as KLM for their
generous support.

Presentations at dive shops
Nuria Sint Jago's efforts visiting dive shops all over Holland to pump up
their enthusiasm for Bonaire has started to pay off. Not only will we welcome
several groups to Bonaire, Nuria is invited to give some presentations to
the diveshop staff and their customers. Next month she'll be in
Apeldoorn and Zwaag, each time with over 150 potential visitors in attendance. Nuria, good luck!

Dual destination: slowly, but surely

It was as if everybody first wanted to see KLM really flying every day.
Since June 2. TCB Europe noticed an increase in interest by Dutch as well as
German Tour operators for dual destination-packages Bonaire-Ecuador. In addition to
Ecuador Surinam seems to be an opportunity since both destinations. The continued emphasis on eco tourism will go a long way to help to promote European travel.

Vakantiebeurs and duik vaker: preparation starts

TCB Europe has started its preparation for Vakantiebeurs 2003 and
DuikVaker 2003. At this large dive-event, TCB managed to claim the
spot right behind the entrance to distribute extra folders and
brochures. Next to that the successful parking-ticket-promotion will be
continued. At Vakantiebeurs, TCB is looking for possibilities to either join
in a CTO-context, together with Aruba and Curacao. No decision
is made yet.

Marketing-meeting 26/27 September

TCB Europe will attend the marketing-meeting 26/27 September in order
to present next years plan to the private sector. This meeting will
also give both parties the opportunity to see if and how funds can be
combined to achieve maximum results on marketing-efforts.

Ellen Joosten departs TCB Europe

Budget reductions at TCB Europe have forced our office to eliminate the position of marketing-manager which was filled by Ellen Joosten . We wish to thank Ellen for a job well done!

Hamlet Oasis dive service

There has been quite a change at the Hamlet Oasis resort lately. Since mid May the management has been taken over by Photo Tours Divers. This full service dive shop known for its personal attention and great service is also opening a second dive shop on the property.
That way each cottage is only a few steps away from dive service at its best. There is a stairway down to the beach for easy access to the beautiful house reef "Cliff". Within a year a dock is planned to also make boat dives from the resort.
The cottages are arranged in a garden setting around a beautiful pool in a way that affords everyone privacy, making this a very intimate resort.
