Tourism Corporation Bonaire with internal organizational changes in 2015

Tourism Corporation Bonaire would hereby like to announce that as of January 1st, 2015 the current Director of Tourism, Mr. Ethsel Pieternella will no longer be part of the TCB team.

The increasing number of Stay-Over tourists, the more  than doubling of the number of cruise ship tourists and the new “12 Month High Season Strategy” are just a few examples of his successful policies. The adoption of TCB’s main goal of sustainable economic growth by vigorously promoting destination Bonaire on worldwide markets has become a fact. Bonaire is becoming a major player.

Since January 2013 director of TCB, Mr. Ethsel Pieternella has taken TCB and the Bonaire tourism sector to a much higher level and exposure. In 2014 Bonaire Stay-Over Tourism from the European and North American markets is expected to grow with at least 10%. For the year 2012 TCB had reported a growth of 1.4% Stay-Over Tourists.  The growth for 2014 will certainly surpass this.

The cruise revenues will increase from 10 million dollars in 2013 to 25 million Dollars in 2016. Bonaire’s economy will get a total extra financial impulse of 24 million US Dollars in 3 years.  This will bring more jobs and business opportunities for the people of Bonaire in the future. In 2016 Bonaire Cruise Tourism is expected to double from 144.000 to 350.000. Starting September 2015 local Bonaireans and tourists can start and end their cruise in Bonaire onboard Pullmantur. Carnival Cruise Lines will start to visit Bonaire for the first time ever in January 2015. Bonaire’s tourism industry is growing and is continuing its course towards a bright future.

Mr. Ethsel Pieternella would like to thank the TCB team, the TCB Supervisory Board, all Stakeholders private sector and the people of Bonaire for their hard work and accomplishments during his tenure as TCB director.

As of January 1st 2015 the Supervisory Board of TCB has decided to temporarily appoint Mr. Herbert Domacasse, commissioner of the Board to temporarily take over management of TCB.  Ms. Malinda Hassell will be responsible for the daily affairs until a new Director is appointed.
